Who we are
We are a small, private nursing practice in Northcliff, Johannesburg, run by a team of professional Private Nurse Practitioners. Our goal is to develop a good, ongoing relationships with referring medical doctors and provide your patients with the best possible care in an out-of-hospital setting.
Out-of-hospital Infusions
The primary focus of the practice is out-of-hospital infusions, strictly done on referral and prescription of the treating medical doctor. We have recently seen a resistance to hospitalisation in many patients in light of the risk of exposure to COVID-19. Because of this, a number of doctors are referring patients for out-of-hospital infusions.
What is required for an out-of- hospital infusion:
- a copy of the prescription;
- details of the referring doctor; and
- ICD 10 code
To obtain the prescribed medication, the patient has two options:
- Obtain the medication (only) from a pharmacy and bring it to the practice; OR
- Email the prescription to the practice and it will be ordered and delivered to the practice – however, this process can take up to a week.
All infusions are administered using an infusion pump. There are always two registered professional nurses on duty, with the following emergency equipment available:
- AED;
- Anaphylaxis box;
- Basic and advanced airway equipment;
- Portable oxygen.
Medical aids
This is a cash practice (credit card facilities available) but we do charge Discovery Health rates. The patient is issued an invoice to claim back from their medical aid. We can assist the patient in the process of getting pre-authorisation if required.
Other services we provide
Advanced Wound Care and Stoma Therapy & Patient Support services are also offered, with qualified nursing practitioners administering both.
